Duties included:
- Wrote Perl and PHP scripts to implement e-commerce sites, parse
data, maintain mailing lists, enforce security measures, perform
preventative maintenance, generate automatic responses, control web
page access, and similar tasks.
- Provided general technical assistance to ATIP staff on PC Windows
(Windows 95 through Windows XP Pro) and Macintosh (Mac OS X as well as
Mac OS 9.1 and older versions of Mac OS) machines, for a variety of
issues (email, web browsing, file sharing, and similar end-user tasks)
and a variety of different software products (including Microsoft
Office, Adobe products [Acrobat, Photoshop, Pagemaker, etc], Eudora,
MIE, Netscape, Mozilla, several FTP clients including Fetch and
WinFTP, others). From 2000 through 2004 inclusive, was the only IT
person at ATIP.
- From 1997 through 2001 inclusive, uploaded material and maintained
websites for several affiliated organizations : Japan Digest,
Digitized Information, Economic Strategy Institute (ESI), Japan Policy
Research Institute (JPRI)
Major accomplishments:
- Created beta website where uploading, editing, content, access,
and commerce are 100% controlled by PHP scripts accessing a MySQL
database. Migrated large site (~10K pages) from plain HTML format to
PHP/MySQL format.
- In 1997, wrote program connecting Apache to Informix db server via
CGI, allowing instantaneous, per-page, time-based control of protected
content access
- Automated processing of applications, posting of content to
websites, updating of client information, and other routine tasks,
resulting in considerable efficiency improvements.

- Head of three-member programming team designing and
implementing front-end for manufacturing simulation game.

Major accomplishments:
- Wrote C++ classes that comprised complete systems dynamics
package, and TCL/TK front-end to manage these classes.
- Modified commercial product (Arena) to communicate with TCL/TK GUI
